“To see the extra learning that they’re getting is just truly amazing.”

Randy Juhl, Principal

When resources are tight, Randy needs to make sure his school is making the best use of what’s available. He’s found Reading Corps to be a “great way to connect other resources and programs and have extra assistance for our kids.” When kids participate in Reading Corps, he says, they become excited about reading and bring that enthusiasm back to class. Prairie Woods has partnered with Reading Corps to provide students with extra support since 2011. Randy says, “To see the extra learning that they’re getting is just truly amazing.”

I can see the struggling readers turn into really great readers in a short amount of time. And I just think, if we didn’t have that program, where would those kids be?

Kelly Engman, Principal

Northeast Range School began with Reading Corps in 2015. Principal Kelly Engman recalls the start up was a smooth process. “Reading Corps is a program that is ready to go,” she said, adding she was impressed by the training both the tutors and a staff member receive combined with the support of a literacy expert Master Coach.

Now that she’s had a chance to see the program in action, she remarked on the quick progress students made, saying, “I can see the struggling readers turn into really great readers in a short amount of time. And I just think, if we didn’t have that program, where would those kids be? They’d still be struggling. Reading Corps meets the students where they are at and moves them toward amazing places.”
